One evening during the circuit breaker in 2020, our dog, Latte, was having a walk in our estate's garden when she came across a toad in the grass. Being a curious pup, she was intrigued. Being greedy, she started to lick it! It was merely a few seconds long before we realised and pulled her away, but the effects were immediate. Latte started licking the air vigorously, panting, and hyper salivating. We hurriedly rinsed her mouth at the nearby tap and rushed her home to give a 24-hour vet a call, fearing she was poisoned (we later learned that there are no poisonous toads in Singapore).
It was 11 pm, but we called Mount Pleasant right away and spoke to the veterinary staff on the line. She assured us that it might simply be a case of a bad-tasting toad and that we didn't need to rush down. Thankfully, she was right!
When unexpected things happen to our dog late at night, the last thing we want is to be helpless. Instead of fumbling for the nearest vet clinic that’s open, here's a list of 24-hour vets in Singapore that you can rely on. Take note of the one that's nearest to your home!
