America’s first dog cafe is helping adoptable dogs find homes. Our first thought? This wonderful idea needs to be implemented in every part of the world!
Sarah Wolfgang, the owner of the cafe has close to two decades of experience in rescuing and rehoming dogs. After moving to Los Angeles and seeing all the homeless animals in need, she was inspired to make a difference by opening a dog cafe that is similar to the ones that she came across in Korea.
The Dog Cafe’s mission is to revolutionize dog adoption by reinventing the way people connect with rescues who need homes.
Unlike overcrowded shelters, which can provoke fear and aggression in perfectly adoptable pups, the cafe provides a relaxed and comfortable environment for both the dogs and guests to mingle.
“Each dog that we bring to our cafe, we make a promise to – to never, ever let them be in a shelter environment again. It’s a personal promise I make to every single dog that walks through our doors,” shares Sarah.
With a small fee of $10 per hour, guests will get to enjoy a drink and spend time with the dogs. It doesn’t matter whether you are intending to adopt!
Not only that, the coffee they sell is from Grounds and Hounds Coffee Co., which donates 20% of all Southern California proceeds to local rescue partners.
