Papa bought mama a bicycle some time ago to get her to go cycling with him. For me, this means that BuddyRiding trips can happen more often with mama cycling alongside us!
Of course, the idea got me pretty excited. Our home is cycling distance away from Bishan Park, East Coast Park, and Wheeler’s Yard – the cafe with the famous blue door that got social media buzzing.
Speaking of Wheeler’s Yard, they are dog-friendly! But furkids are only allowed at their outdoor seating; away from all the action.
Mama and papa went to check the place out first, and they enjoyed it! As the name suggests, Wheeler’s Yard is bicycle-themed, with a store that sells stylish bicycles and related accessories.
The well-decorated cafe was converted from a spacious industrial warehouse. Find yourself a seat at one of their communal tables and order some food and drinks. While waiting, you can flip magazines and listen to music using the available Sennheiser headphones (available indoors).
It’s nice to know that their outdoor seating is dog-friendly!
Price: 8/10. Prices are reasonable. They don’t charge GST and taxes, and also have a weekday set lunch menu – $16.90 for a main with a choice of coffee or tea.
Taste: 7.5/10. Mama ordered the Beef Stew ($16.90), which was the special of the day. The tender beef didn’t manage to salvage the diluted stew it came in, and the wine left a tinge of strange aftertaste. The Big Breakfast ($16.90) that papa had was fortunately pretty okay. They also ordered the popular Mentaiko fries ($13.90) – one of mama’s favourite food! However, she prefers the one at Grub (not dog-friendly).
Dog/human-friendliness: 7/10. Don’t go when it’s super sunny because you and your furkid will be dying in the heat outdoors. It is a good option if you are cycling nearby with your dogs and want to grab a bite under shade.
