This is a media food tasting review.
Did you know that to be pet-friendly, F&B establishments have to install a wash basin, put up pet-friendly notices, train staff to observe strict pet handling hygiene practices, and more?
Those small inconveniences may be enough to deter some establishments from getting a Pets Allowed license. But Five &2 is determined to provide a place for pet owners to enjoy good food with their furry ones by their side:
“There is a rise in pet ownership in Singapore and it is important that lifestyle spaces like ours become more inclusive to this group of customers. It also helps that we are in a park where many pet owners walk their dogs and can hop in for an ice cold beer right after,” shares Mr. Edward Chia, Co-founder of Five &2 and Managing Director of Timbre Group.
Well, lucky us because Five &2 is a place we will be frequenting from now on!
Here’s why you should dine at Five &2 with your dog
With an extensive menu of Southeast Asian fusion dishes, you would be going back just to be able to try everything.
Not only that, the restaurant has committed to two social missions.
The meaning behind Five &2
- Feeding underprivileged children by giving a free nutritious meal with every five meals sold
- Providing a suitable workplace for the marginalised with the help of technology
When we visited, the staff serving us were either ex-inmates or individuals with disabilities or chronic illnesses.
To help them manage the job, the restaurant opens in the late afternoon to accommodate some staff’s regular morning doctor visits. Guests have to self-order at the kiosk and return their tray to get their one dollar deposit back. The menu also doesn’t have heavy or easy to topple items and drinks are automatically mixed using a tablet-connected machine. So thoughtful!
Five &2 menu
Let’s start with our favourites – the Vongole (S$18.80) and the Mushroom Pasta (S$14.80).
Served in a bowl of white cream broth, the vongole was fresh, garlicky and carried a hint of spice. If like us, you can’t finish the generous portion, ask for a takeaway because the broth is even more flavourful when you heat it up the next day.
The mushroom pasta was creamy but not too rich. There was plenty of mushroom in every bite – great for mushroom lovers!
We also had the Golden Chicken Wings (S$9.80) served with a special chilli sauce concocted by Chef Gino. The chicken wings were nice but not distinctive if not for their yummy dipping sauce. As a chicken wings lover, I would still order it.
If you are looking for more Asian flavours, try their Sarawak Chicken Curry (S$12.80) paired with Multi-grain rice (S$2.50). The chicken curry comes with a kick of star anise and cardamon – a refreshing change from the chicken curry we usually have.
We also tried the Singapore Laksa (S$8.80) but it didn’t stand out for us.
After a filling meal, we didn’t have any more tummy space for their local desserts – Chendol (S$4.50) and Pulut Hitam with Coconut Ice Cream (S$5.50) but they sure sound good!
For drinks, we had the Mango Cooler (S$7) and Yummy Smoothie (S$7) – both mango-based and very tropical. We only wish there was more!

The restaurant is surrounded by grass patches for dogs to relieve themselves. Sitting right in Punggol park also means that you can bring your dog for a leisurely stroll before or after your meal.
Five &2 provides plastic dog water bowls that you can use for your dog. They also have plans to sell pet treats and hold regular events catered to pets. Follow their Facebook page for updates!
