Run For Light 2017 – A Fun Run for a Visionary Cause
Run For Light is an annual fun charity run organised by Ideas Room Consulting and Linburger & Wolfe. It aims to empower the less fortunate community by helping them raise awareness and funds. This year, the adopted beneficiary is Guide Dogs Association of the Blind (GDAB).
GDAB is a non-profit voluntary welfare organisation that focuses on improving the quality of life of blind and visually-impaired people in Singapore through the provision of training and rehabilitation programmes.
An example would be the Orientation & Mobility and Guide Dogs programme, where they have successfully paired four guide dog teams. Till date, they have served more than 160 blind and visually-impaired people, offering them the ability to live independently.
Preceding the main event, a pre-walk was held from Mandarin Orchard to ION on 5 Nov 2016. Participants were paired up, with one blindfolded and the other guiding. Doesn’t it sound challenging?
Volunteers from GDAB were also there to guide the visually-impaired participants, along with their guide dog mascot who made a special appearance during the walk.
If you are up for the challenge, sign up for the blindfold walk, happening on the main event day! (Limited to the first 100 pairs only) You can also choose to take part in the 5km fun run or 10km competitive run. Grab 2 friends along to enjoy a package price for 3!
Do note that registration will close on 31 December 2016.
