On Rafael Mantesso’s thirtieth birthday, his wife left him. She took everything with her, including their photos and decorations. All she left behind in the empty all-white apartment was their bull terrier, whom she named after her favorite shoe designer, Jimmy Choo.
All alone with Jimmy, Rafael started taking photos of his only companion with nothing but white walls behind. It was when Jimmy collapsed happily next to the white wall that Rafael suddenly got inspired. With a black marker, he started drawing a whimsical world around Jimmy; igniting his long-dormant passion for drawing, for art, for life.
The fun and cheeky drawings starring Jimmy went viral globally and they opened wonderful doors of opportunities for the duo. That includes a photo book and a coveted collaboration with Jimmy Choo (the brand) to create a series of tongue-in-cheek illustrations for their accessories collection.
