Meet Smiley, a Happy Therapy Dog Born Without Eyes

Smiley the Blind Therapy Dog | Vanillapup

Smiley the therapy dog born without eyes is spreading love to children with special needs after being rescued from a puppy mill by his owner.

Smiley was rescued from a crowded puppy mill by professional dog trainer Joanna George. He was born without eyes and suffered physical disproportions due to a condition linked to Dwarfism.

Discovered with fresh wounds on his face, along with split ears, he was in pretty bad shape. To stop the infection, the vet sewed his eyes shut, making him look like he is always smiling, which explains his name.

While the other dogs who were rescued by Joanna quickly got adopted, Smiley was left behind. Fortunately, Joanna decided that her home is where he truly belongs, and he now lives happily with her in Stouffville, Ontario.

When he’s not enjoying time with his family at home, he brings smiles to children with special needs. He is trained by Joanna and has a job at Canadian first aid training organization, St. John’s Ambulance, as a certified therapy dog!
