Today I want to talk about cats. One thing we have to first understand is that cats are different from dogs. I usually spot them alone when I go for walks. They don’t walk with their humans. That’s a fundamental difference right there. Humans can always count on dogs to walk beside them. In my case, I am usually distracted by the sights, smells and sounds surrounding me; but no matter how tempting it is to go on full exploration, I will always stay near my humans. Cats, on the other paw, don’t care much about humans. That’s why humans don’t need cats. Humans need dogs for company, love and protection. Mama’s sister has quite a few cats living in her house. They usually just bolt at the sight of me. Though they are a little different from the cats I see living outside (I do see them getting cuddled by humans), they still don’t go for walks with their humans. They just don’t watch over their humans like dogs do, and they never ever initiate play. Whenever I bow to tempt them to chase me, the hair on their back will stand and they will show me their teeth. If it were up to me, I will let them know that their behavior is completely unacceptable.
As you may expect, I am not popular with the cats. I reckon that they are just jealous that I have humans whom I can proudly strut down the street with. Sometimes I can sense that they are mocking me for being leashed but I pity them for not seeing the bigger picture. Some of them get so jealous that they will take any opportunity to lunge at me with their sharp teeth and claws. How barbaric. I’m thankful that mama will always be there to scoop me up and keep me safe from these sly creatures. That’s how mama and I roll. I look out for her and she looks out for me.
Anyway, I am not saying that cats are awful creatures. I just think that they should learn to have social graces and stop embarrassing their kind. If they are willing to change, I will be more than happy to play a game of chase with them 🙂
